Rep. Posey issued a statement regarding the first Executive Order travel ban signed by the President in January, 2017: ““Allowing unvetted immigration into the United States when we have been told there will be terrorists among them is risky and dangerous. I have supported pausing our refugee and immigration programs from nations that we know pose a serious national security threat and implementing 9/11 Commission recommendations, such as putting in place a reliable entry/exit system. In the past, presidents have rightly initiated similar travel restrictions. Our first responsibility is to protect the homeland, and we must do all we can to guard against terrorist threats to our nation.”

Posey Opinion on Russia Investigation Unclear

A telephone call on March 30, 2017 to Congressman Posey’s D.C. office was met with confusion over the questions of “Whether Congressman Posey is supporting a House Intelligence Committee Investigation of the Trump Campaign’s ties to Russia” and if not, “Will the Congressman support an independent investigation of the allegations to determine the facts.”

We were politely told that we would receive a response within 1-2 weeks and was thanked for our comments, at which point, we corrected and reminded the staffer that we had questions about a position, not comments.

It seems as though Congressman Posey is trying to get away without making a statement regarding this important issue.  Please let him know this is not acceptable to his constituents!  Call him in Washington at (202) 225-3671 or in Melbourne at (321) 632-1776 to push him for a statement.

Sample script:

“Hi, my name is {name} and I’m a constituent from {city and zip}.  I’m calling to ask my representative to make a public statement voicing our concern regarding the current administration’s ties to Russia and asking the Senate to establish an independent commission to investigate the Russian interference in the 2016 election.  The House Intelligence Committee’s hearing was clouded by political agendas, and it is imperative to remove partisan politics from the equation in order to get to the truth.”
